Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

How low can you get?

This morning I spotted a scruffy looking man in white van collecting bags of clothing etc left out for Macmillan Cancer (N10). I checked with Clothes Aid who collect for the charity, who confirmed he was nothing to do with them. He was of Eastern European appearance in an unmarked white medium sized van, registration FX52 TKJ. I could see there were also bits of scrap metal etc in back of the van, which suggests the guy was taking whatever he could.

Police have the details and Clothes Aid will report the theft, but pls make a report if you see this happening — stealing from a charity is despicable and it would be lovely to see this scumbag caught.

There's money to be made in textiles these days. We've got a few old discussions about this on the site as well. It's big (illegal) business. At least you had the presence of mind to take registrations and report. Hopefully he will be caught.

Probably better if people take their old clothes directly to charity shops. TRAID advertised direct collection on here recently too.

Clothes Aid called to get a few more details and say you can email and ask for collectors to knock so you can had them your bag. Will definitely do that next time.

As you say, let's hope he's caught

Eastern European appearance? Don't want to open a floodgate but I find that a little offensive if not racist.

Merely a statement of fact

Really?
What's an eastern european appearance?

Oh FFS! Give it a rest and put your overly PC rattle back in your pram.

I agree with Annette on this one, it didn't seem a racist comment in this context.

Thanks Anette and Jerry. It was certainly not intended to be racist
