I'm downsizing my stereo and getting rid of my seperates - before I take them up to the Hornsey recycling place is anyone interested. There's an amp, record player, tape deck and CD player and speakers. Its 10 years old and only working intermitently - I suspect some bits of it might be salvagable though - but its only worth it if you're the kind of person who likes to take things to bits and have a play!

Hi Betty,
Are they usable separately? As in would the record player work if plugged into our own speakers? Sorry if that's a very basic question! (looking for something to play acquired vinyl on)
Hi Anna,
you'd need to run the record deck through an amp I'm afraid. If you're looking for something pretty basic to be able to play your viynl on I'd reccomend getting a Steepletone stand alone deck - mine was only £35, and its little so it doesn't take up too much space. Its not the cleanest sound, but since all my records are old I kind of feel like that just makes them sound more like they would have done if I'd been listening to them in the 70's/80's!

I'd be interested in the turntable, if it's still available.
Dear Betty - I would be interested in some of these "separates" (not the turntable, as we have a couple of very good ones already), and I am one of those people that likes to mess around with things and try to get them working properly. As I'm retired, I have a bit of time to indulge myself in this <g>. Also, it is really good on the occasions when I can manage to get something working up to scratch - even when we don't have a use for it, if it is in working condition, then I pass it on to our local charity shop, so it goes to a good home.
Whereabouts do you live? We're near the Salisbury pub.
Best - Chris
Hi Betty,
I have a pair of fantastic speakers desperately waiting for an amp. I'd love to have it if its still available.
thanks,
Julian
