I find this discussion rather interesting.

Some time ago there was a disparaging comment on HOL about the Queen's Head pub being turned into " a Turkish furniture shop " Rightly or wrongly, I thought that this implied that Turkish furniture was less acceptable than that of other cultures and that the comment bordered on racism. I asked why it was necessary to specify that it was a Turkish shop when the important factor was that it was not a pub.

A few replies stated that I was being ridiculous and over-sensitive and that the use of the word Turkish " was not racist. So, is the word " Roma " in the context of bin raking racist or not ?

Michael, I think you'll find that a comment has been deleted. If not, why did Neil apologise?

If it were 'white English' doing this trespassing, I wonder if the outcry would be so loud. In the end, it is only 'rubbish' or 'thrown-outs' that they are re-cycling. I don't go with the 'identity fraud' idea. Anyway, anyone who doesn't shred personal papers and sets them off into the waste paper chain, can't really complain.

This happens in my apartment house too, BTW.

It happens where we are as well and sometimes they are not only after rubbish they are trying to find out if the property is unoccupied or if someone is in. Be aware.

Yep, been a spate of people's homes being broken into and then squatted. There was a guy knocking on doors round my street one day recently, he came round twice... No proper reason why he was doing this

No everyone hasn't decided that WB. In fact those that go on about being PC, are still in the minority thank goodness..

They prove their credentials by what they scribble here..

I have no time for such folk. So let they write all they will, I won't be commenting any further.
