Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

What a shame that such a nice bit of green space near Wood Green is still largely used as an outdoor drinking space. Iknow efforts are being made but it is poorly laid out and poorly maintained.
I put a form into Haringey via their website recently.
Maybe we should all put one in and they would make it a higher priority

News from the 'Friends of Ducketts Common'

"Some good news to report – the basketball lights have finally be turned on and work will start on the new playground next week (see the designs and an illustration of the equipment attached)

Many thanks to Lewis Taylor from Haringey’s Parks department for his endeavours with the electricity company EDF to gets the lights connected up and switched on – they are on an automatic timer and go off at 10pm. Lewis also secured the funding for us for the playground, which should be completed by mid June.

Our next meeting is Thursday 22nd May from 7-8pm at the Harringay United Church - the church is on Green Lanes, on the corner of Allison Road, N8. Philip Cunliffe-Jones from Haringey’s legal team will be there to tell us what we changes we might be able to make to the Common. A path from Frobisher Road has been a very popular request."

Delighted that finally there's some improvements to this space and thanks to all those whose hard work has made it happen. But no swings? No sand-pit? No slide? No roundabout? With no toilet facility planned and no increase in the space (when there's a large 'picnic' area next to it which is used solely as a gang-meeting/drinking point)? Sorry for the negativity, but compared to Finsbury Park, Chestnuts or Priory Park, nice if you're passing through for 10 minutes but there's not much reason here to make Ducketts Common your destination if you have small children.
i have to say one evening on the weekend Ducketts Common was packed, it looked looked like a basketball match going on at one end and kids playing on the grass... picture of innocence I tell you! :)
