Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

"The crook of your elbow is not just a plain patch of skin. It is a piece of highly coveted real estate, a special ecosystem, a bountiful home to no fewer than six tribes of bacteria. Even after you have washed the skin clean, there are still one million bacteria in every square centimeter." It's all part of a natural ecosystem covering your body. Apparently the one in your inner elbow is quite different to all the rest.

This New York Times article outlines a US Government project exploring our microbiome. (Didn't even know I had one).

Any wonder most of us don't know our (ahem!) ear from our elbow?
Hi Hugh,

So now we are walking ecosystems.

I kind of new this in my own uneducated ad hoc way, but to see it officially declared is another matter. Perhaps we will soon see people hiring out ecosystem plots out for research from various areas of their bodies.

I bet there are a few fertile beards out there that may be harbouring their own ecosystems - it may be life Jim, but not as we know it :-)
