Thought I would share a couple of images of the gardening effort today at SHJ by parents, children and staff of Veolia, and organised by Lucy Jaffe.
I think Veolia have taken a bit of flak of late, what with the bins issues and all. So, I especially wanted to say thanks to the half dozen Veolia staff who came as part of a programme Veolia have that see staff encouraged to carry out a certain amount of voluntary work in their communities.
Most of the guys who came were front line staff, street cleaners. I recognised a few from saying high and swapping a few words when I have seen them sweeping our streets. They were a great group.

It is great to see Veolia employees involved in voluntary work but what are the Veolia directors and senior management up to? Veolia Environment Services are amongst the list of contractors approved to bid for the contentious North London Waste authority waste treatement infrastructure contract. They are also a leading partner in the City Pass consortium in Israel and have been involved in building a light rail tramway system linking Israel to illegal settlements in occupied East Jerusalem, the operation of bus routes linking other illegal settlements and the operation of the Tovian landfill site in the illegally occuped Jordan Valley. The United nations Human rights Council has condemned the support of such activity.
