Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anybody know what's happened and are buses being allowed to go through from Turnpike Lane? Just heard on smooth radio there's been an accident and traffic has stopped in both directions? Hope no one has been hurt...

There were a lot of police and the road was cordoned off outside shops on Lordship lane and the corner of the Roundway, just here around 5pm  https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=westbury+avenue+london+n22&hl=...

Apparently an elderly man was in collision with a vehicle there around that time and air ambulance was on site

seriously an air ambulance?? wtf its not like it was on the side of a mountain, why not send a regular ambulance ??? and we wonder why theres no money in the nhs??

Don't worry Ryan. The London Air Ambulance service is a charity mainly funded by sponsors and the helicopters are provided by Virgin.
Also, the Haringey Independent describes the elderly gentleman as being in a serious condition due to head and arm injuries.
So there's no room to get an ambulance down the road, even though all roads have traffic jams but cars move aside when they hear sirens allowing ambulance through. As they have done everywhere. No room for an ambulance but landing a helicopter, yep plenty of room?
Please !

I didn't see these replies. Normally I get an email notification but I guess something's gone wrong. It was an elderly man who had sustained a slight cut to the side of his head from a wing mirror of a white van. I think police were trying to determine if the driver was going too fast and so was unable to slow down or stop in time. Let's hope the gentleman is okay.

Its silly to moan 'thats where NHS money is going' without double checking whether HEMS is indeed NHS funded. Its not! :)

Either way, they get dispatched every time there is indication the patient might qualify for a major trauma triage tree. Stabbings, traffic collisions, etc. These guys do amazing job and can get the patient from scene to major trauma center much quicker than your average ambulance crew (who usually arrive first and stabilize the patient prior to helicopter doctors' arrival).
