Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just had a knock on the the door from a man claiming to be collecting for the British Red Cross.

Now I know they use chuggers, both street and phone, but is this a new tactic? I'll ring em tomorrow and find out. But it just don't seem right. they are on Pemberton at the mo.

The simple fact is that charities employ chuggers because it works, and it brings in money.  If there was a better more cost effective way of fundraising, then they would be doing that instead. The majority of people don't donate time or money without prompting.  If every person who's ever had a whinge about chuggers set up a direct debit or payroll giving to a charity, or gave up some of their time to volunteer as a fundraiser, then there would be no need for chuggers to exsist.

Exactly. They are needed and as I said above, it creates jobs as well.

We've had the Red Cross chugging in Tottenham at least twice recently (last time on Friday), plus countless others. I'm getting less polite with them as time goes on.
