I first posted this in the summer. There has been a good response to it on the door step but it would be good to get more signatures on-line. Do please add your support to this campaign so as to add weight to our representations to the council.
Local residents have been telling us for some time about how dangerous it is to cross Alroy Road at its junction with Endymion Road.
Cllr David Schmitz and I together with one of local activists, Asha Kaur have launched a campaign to get the council to address this and explore the possibility of putting a pedestrian crossing here. I have asked them to look at the number of accidents at this location and to explore possible funding streams.
The junction is very busy with traffic coming from three directions at once, often at considerable speed. There are seldom any gaps to allow people to cross.
Large numbers of people from the Harringay Ladder going to Finsbury Park and residents coming from Stroud Green going to Green Lanes cross here.
We want the council to do something about this very dangerous junction before there is fatality here.
Please support this campaign by signing our petition using the link below:

thanks Karen
I have just moved to Alroy Road a month ago and I have experienced how dangerous is to cross it.

I don't think users of the nearby garage help matters either - there are frequently vehicles blocking the pavement, forcing pedestrians to either walk in the road or cross just before the blind corner as the road passes over the railway line. Is there anything you as a councillor can do about this as well, please?
Admins is there any chance you could merge this on with this one ?
Can't merge, but we can close one. Any good?
no cut and paste?
otherwise i guess it's up to Karen.
Yes, we have the same cut and paste function as you, Ben. Feel free. If you'd like us to close one, let us know.
Yes, happy for it to be cut and pasted - makes sense to have it all in one place.
I have been on the case as far as the garage is concerned in the past - I will get on to the council again to see what they can do - there is a similar problem with the garage on Wightman Road, midway down - having to walk in the road because of cars on the pavement is very serious, particularly if you have young children and prams.
I think the issue about the garages is very valid. I often have to walk in the road trying to get past the cars parked on the pavement at the garage at Alroy road end of Wightman.
Thank you to everyone who has so far added their signature to the Alroy Road crossing petition.
Just to keep everyone updated on progress on this. I continue to liaise with the council on this issue and though I have been advised there is no funding this financial year I have been told that it will be placed on the council's provisional road safety list for consideration when developing the 2012/13 Highways Works Plan (HWP).
We will continue to pressure the council for this. It would be good to have more signatures on the online petition which will run alongside our door to door petition (to which we had a terrific response).
Please sign it if you haven't already and let your friends and neighbours know about it too. The more support we have from residents the more weight will be behind our campaign.
