That cake looks like it was amazing! A bakelite radio set? (Sorry, all the  old tech stuff looks fascinating too).
I think it's a bakelite Bush TV set :)
At last, an answer to the most burning question!

The cake was delicious and if you look carefully on screen of the 1950 bakelite "Bush TV22" you can see a picture of Ally Pally.

I hope there'll be an Open Day soon to accommodate those who were told on Thursday and Friday that there were no more "timed tickets".

I had more than one slice and can confirm that that cake wasn't baker light

We managed to get onto the Sunday 4.30pm timed tour of the BBC Studios
Brilliant loved it -
The room to the rear of the Palace as you go into the Ice Rink entrance on the right was open too and you could walk down a narrow corridor and see into the old Ali Pally theatre - amazing stuff
What an asset we have at Ally Pally we just need £10million or £20 Million or so to turn it into an amazing place?
Its a museum waiting to happen

We had tea and cake -
The cakes were nice but the tea was cold -
The canteen has always been a bit of a joke at the BBC
Loved the tea girls all dressed up in authentic clothes etc too
Had a great feel to the whole afternoon
Should be opened up more often.

Thanks for posting them Hugh. The top photo show, centre left, Iain Logie Baird (the grandson of John, the TV pioneer); with silver hair, Duncan Wilson OBE, the new CEO and lower right, Matt Cooke, Chairman of the AP Trust Board.

On Friday, David Lammy MP and a former Heritage Minister, became the latest to endorse the UNESCO World Heritage site Proposal for the whole south east wing.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend the Statutory Advisory Committee (public) meeting in the Londesborough Room at Ally Pally tonight, where the Proposal goes on trial.

These are good. I didn't get to see the cake, but I had a great time on Sunday.

Here are a few of my pics.
