Linka, In case you hadn't already done this, I've passed this information to the Environment Department. (It has some pretentious new name I forget.) I gave a link to your photo of the car in the cycle lane. (Posting on HoL by itself doesn't get it into the Council's systems.)
The Hackney Controlled Zone photo doesn't apply. The "border" at this point is the New River which runs under the roadway. On Google Earth the location of the car parked in the cycle lane is on the Haringey side.
Aha, thanks for the clarification, Alan. I hadn't reported it direct yet as I was waving the pictures around in the hope that we could accumulate more of an open-and-shut case (pictures showing the duration of the parking, for eg), but thanks for taking it direct to the right department.
I also didn't realise the border with Hackney was right there!
I saw this car in front (which is a newer BMW) parked there on Friday evening in exactly the same spot around 8pm. The one behind it on Friday evening was a newer Mercedes - ie. not the one there earlier in the day - but it came back? In any case, I suspect both of these were parked here through Friday evening into Saturday.
Maybe it's an unofficial but exclusive parking space for owners of silver, German-made saloons only?
Well if it's going to take us turning into Emil and the Detectives to not have that sinking feeling at the junction when you look up the hill and see the bike lane parked up (and realise you'll have to signal out in the hope that some of the weekday traffic lay off their accelerators) so be it.
Sorry, I messed-up the Google Streetview link. This should work.
A very positive first step.
I got an email this morning from the Parking Service saying they were off to this location and would "enforce as appropriate".
But the key issue is safer cycling, not fines for Haringey. So I'm saving my applause until after the cycle lane is clear.
