Warm dry spring bad news for blackberry fans
The warm dry spring means that we will see an earlier crop of blackberries, writes blogger Beverley Gormley on the BBC nature website, but the bad news is that there are likely to be less of them.
Without spring rain to plump them up, we're not going to get a lot of ripe fruit this year. This is bad news for fans of blackberry and apple crumble but also for the many species that rely on the blackberry for food including blackbirds, butterflies and our old Harringay friend, the fox.

So, no new winter boots for me this year. I'll just have to go barefoot to school till October and save the old ones.
