Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Travelling back from Sheffield earlier this week, who should sit down opposite me but Diana Edmonds, Head of Haringey Libraries. As well as hearing about the great news on the survival of Haringey Libraries through the recent cuts, Diana told me about the forthcoming Book Night event.

World Book Night on 5th March represents the most ambitious and far-reaching celebration of adult books and reading ever attempted in the UK and Ireland.

Locally on the night, Book in a Night at Hornsey Library will see locals staying up all night to celebrate what Haringey libraries mean to all of us.

The night will include for live music, films, readings by notable locals (whatever that can o'worms might mean!), debate, collaborative writing etc.

Book Night is being run by Chris Meade, Director of if:book, the think and do tank exploring the future of the book. Chris was previously CEO of Booktrust and the Poetry Society, has been arts officer in public libraries.

Find out more about the national even at worldbooknight.org.

Read about the local event at the bookfutures website.

Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is being gievn away between 2 and 6pm in Nest. and you can stock up on yarn etc while you are there. Nice way to support a new local business
Hugh - d'you have a direct link to what's on locally and who to contact? The bookfutures link goes straight to the national World Book Night website. I know a couple of wonderful local writers who might like to take part at the Hornsey Library event, if that's still an option. Ta, Kit
Sorry, messed up the link - corrected now.

Fab - thx. Sounds like a great night in. Wonder what the "giant, rubbish art installation" will be.
