Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

On Sunday I did four Bus trips on a 29 Bus - Wood Green to Warren Street

Visiting my brother in UCLH - Hospital

What a eye opener - could not believe the changes in Green Lanes

As do not drive through Green Lanes these day's normally

Aware of large numbers of residently property either side of Green Lanes

But could not believe the number of Resurants / Eating houses

And those offering Jewelry -

Really has changed over the years - around 15 when I used it Enforce

it with Street Trading

Sitting @ back of Bus could not get over the number of users that make

No effort to pay / swipe card etc

Herd comments about I wonder if the Enforcement Team will be visiting today -

This is the only Route I have been on - with a Bendy Bus

Really can not see how it pay's operator -

no I deleted it myself.. 'cos I though it wasn't worth writing sommit like that.. but the continued  trolling.. well I ask you.. ?
Hi Stephen, I think I'm being got at??? Maybe you read more into my remark than was intended. In my day a troll was a funny little doll with wild hair so I don't understand your remark.
Those funny little dolls are Gonks! Totally different beasties.

Doh!!!

I've got it, trolls are the ones that go "fol di rol" and go clanking across the bridge!

(A young person has just entered the room and explained the term, and this conversation to me, so ignore the above Stephen)

Some trolls are quite nice. I like this one http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/2236

and I'm sure these two have been seen waiting at Manor House for a 29

nah maggie, nothing to do with you.. :o)
I'm sure bendy buses were being phased out... but can't find the link right now...
Granted, some people do misuse the system but I used the 29 twice between Green Lanes and Camden last Sunday. On both journeys it was impossible to stretch through the 20 or so people crammed into the back entry door to reach the fare pad. I had purchased an oyster card for a friend who was visiting and she got pushed out of the bus twice at bus stops by others trying to get off and then the bus was ordered to terminate at Finsbury Park, leaving 100 or so passengers (including a wheelchair assisted paraplegic) to board the next bus...You can do the maths yourself! I'm not complaining though as the service is usually great and we got a free ride...

There's been a consultation and yes, bendy buses are supposed to be phased out but it will take years, and lots of our money. Reducing the fare dodging - which certainly is quite a problem - is pretty much the only argument in favour of this expensive move by the person I can't mention....for the rest those of us who move around with buggies will miss them very much as they have up to six places as opposed to the miserable 2-3 in the double deckers (which are usually full leading us to wait for several buses until we can get on...).

And so will you miss the bendy buses when the Routemasters come back and most people will not move upstairs, making the whole experience even more crowded and unpleasant. And when people will get hurt again jumping on and off like in the "good" old days.

Bit of a rant. Sorry, didn't mean to sound so boring but it's an issue I really care about and it affects me very directly, as I don't own a car.

...especially when they develop woodworm or plastic fatigue.. or someone falls to their death off the wind tunnel at the back..

I do wonder tho' how in these times of austerity and cuts, Boris will be able to justify paying two wages (driver & conductor-with nothing to conduct)  rather than one..

Perhaps that's him doing his bit for 'Big Society'?

He's only planning on using conductors in the rush hour. It's quite possible that the money gained by making the fare dodgers pay will more than cover the wages of a part time conductor. And there'll be the added bonus of someone getting a job out of it.
