Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Following our earlier posting, tonight's the chance to help bag some swag for the borough.

The following just in:

Tottenham community garden project on ITV’s ‘People’s Millions’, 6pm tonight (Thursday).
Please vote by phone TODAY for £50,000 for Tottenham!

THE NUMBER TO SUPPORT

BROADWATER'S HARMONY GARDENS IS: 0871 626 88 43

LINES OPEN FROM 9-AM TO MIDNIGHT

PLEASE PHONE THIS NUMBER AND VOTE UP TO 10 TIMES.

Calls cost 10p from BT landlines, higher from other providers, and considerably more from mobiles. All call costs will go to charity.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT? Local people are planning a range of improvements to the grounds of the Broadwater Farm Community Centre by Lordship Rec, N17. Do you want to see community-led local food growing, landscaping, green gym, and gardens, involving local residents and schools?  Your vote TODAY could make this a reality.

WATCH IT!  A film starring local Broadwater Farm Primary School children will be broadcast on ITV’s London Tonight at 6pm with details of the project.

VOTE FOR IT!  You can vote up to midnight - 10 calls can be made from each phone used.

SPREAD IT!  Please forward this email widely and ask everyone you know in Haringey and the UK to vote (up to 10 times)!

How can you resist an appeal like that!

I agree it's a great cause but 0871 numbers are really expensive on some mobile tariffs including mine.
Have you got a BT landline at home? The lines are open until midnight so it can be done from home if people are at work.
Wish I could, but for some bizarre reason I can't call 0871 numbers from Sweden. Grrr...

Can anyone explain how this differs from the big project to restore Lordship Rec which already won millions in funding a few years ago?
This is to put to use the unused grounds of Broadwater Farm community centre.

You can read about the project on their People's Millions page here but they are planning new community gardens, with local fruit and veg a scented leisure garden – and with some provision for native butterflies, birds and bees – and a Children’sOrganic Nature Garden.

Not anything to do with Lordship Rec which was about bringing a space that had fallen into disuse back into use in a part of Haringey that lacks green space.
The winner might be announced on London Tonight tonight, if you've got time to watch.
