Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Haringey Council is calling on residents to help deliver a Credit Union to the borough.

The council has been working with Islington and City Credit Union to create Haringey, Islington and City Credit Union – which will help protect vulnerable residents from falling prey to loan sharks, by offering affordable credit and help dealing with debt.

But to get the Union off the ground and officially recognised by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), people need to pledge to become members.

Joining the Credit Union will cost just £5, and membership is open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Haringey.

All members will own a share in the company, have access to savings accounts, financial advice and good value loans – and be part of a scheme to defeat debt.

To pledge support for the Haringey, Islington and City Credit Union, visit the Credit Union page.

It should be enough to send this message

I SUPPORT THE CREATION OF A CREDIT UNION COVERING HARINGEY, ISLINGTON & THE CITY AND WILL CONSIDER JOINING AS SOON AS I AM ABLE TO DO SO.

With your name, address and email/telephone.

To info@iccu.coop

They'd also like you to indicate whether or not you're able to help promote it.
Indeed. This should really just be a simple web form... all they really seem to want is an email from you! Maybe I should start filling in the Haringey Council website satisfaction surveys for once.

I've signed, by the way :)
Having written this, and filled out the Haringey website survey... five minutes later I was asked to do something very similar on my employer's website. Because of politics like. So maybe the Haringey Council website officers have exactly the same frustrations...
I take it you've made your pledge, John. Who's next? Well, after me.
Click on THIS link and an email will pop up for you to fill out (hopefully).

Don't forget to add your NAME ADDRESS and PHONE NUMBER/EMAIL.

The FSA are looking for an expression of interest before they will spend money/resources.
Well, that's at least three of us.

I take it the simple email is OK, without their form as attachment ?
I don't know, OAE, I filled in the form but, as we know, John knows about this stuff so I'm guessing his advice is good.
If I get rejected I'll be sure to let you all know... :)
I'm in - form done.

Whether I use it or not, I'm very keen to support it.
Signed up!
Just joined up Thanks for the info
