Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

As someone who has been confused about the change to the clocks, every year, twice a year, for all my 50+ years I had a sudden thought.
If GMT (i.e. wintertime) is the norm, and it is the winter darkness that people are concerned about (Scots, farmers, parents, H+S bods etc) why don’t we have BWT (British Winter Time) instead of BST when it is already light enough for everyone?
Surely we change the clocks for the wrong half of the year, don’t we?

So I suggest
GMT from April to October
BWT from November to March

Is that really sensible (a flash of genius even) or have I completely missed the point of it all, again?

your comments appreciated.

London absolutely kills Frankfurt and Paris and Vienna because we are an hour closer to America.

People in the city are famously early starters. We don't miss out, I assure you.
Why cannot we just have British Summer Time all year and have done with it. Each time we change causes confusion for most people and even changing all the clocks has become a chore as almost every piece of equipment shows the time now.
Surely it's not an extra hour of darkness that kills kids. It's people. The bad driving, carelessness, tiredness, failure to use/wear hi viz gear etc that does it. We cant just blame the dark and the clock changing. I dont mind either way but perhaps we need to change our ways. Be more alert in the mornings, dark or light.
You're right of course but, it's easier to change the clocks than change our evening centric ways.
An old wives saying was that an hours sleep before midnight was worth 2 after... we just stay up too late nowadays, including the kiddies. No wonder road safety is poor.
