Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Can anyone confirm if this tweet picked up about the Oakdale Pub in Hermitage Road is correct?

If so, yet another Harringay pub bites the dust.

I hope the lizards find will a good new home!
Thats a shame, I never actually made it there yet and have only lived up off West Green Rd for a few weeks but my friends often talked fondly of the place and its quiz. Seems like the area needs good backstreet boozers for people to spend there time and money in their area. We'll miss them when they're gone, so I'll see you at the bar!
There is indeed a dearth of decent pubs in the area. Especially over Seven Sisters way...
I've been in The Fountain a few times with my girlfriend and some friends, though its a busy roadhouse with footie on constant and gets crazy on Fridays, its not bad place for a drink and the japanese food is delicious...

Do people know any other good pubs in the area? I keep walking past the Lord Palmerston (Phillip Lane) and K K McCools on West Green Rd but not ventured in...
I see your road on the map. You could easily walk to the Goat in ten minutes (it's just past Belmont Road, opposite the green space). Jubebox, pool, Sky sports, friendly landlord, carpet - carpet! - and now roasts on Sundays. Check it out!!
I'm really sad about this. The Oakdale is a great pub. I like the Salisbury, too, but the Oakdale is a genuinely characterful and friendly place. B-(
Someone should buy that Queens pub on Ducketts Common at top of Green lanes which is closed down and do it up, could be a nice boozer and short cycle or walk from most places in Harringay...

Shame we're in such austere times...
Returning to the main point of this thread, I can't open the planning link (could be my work computer)... in a nutshell, is this a done deal or is there still a slim chance to save the place?
The link says the planning permission was initially refused, but then granted on appeal but as previously stated the building would have to begin before April 2011. I'm not sure what's happening but the landlord told me last year that they had "saved the pub" and it was doing really well and would not be closing down. Maybe I misunderstood, but he said that it had been reported in the local paper. He was a grumpy old sod though and would not support our local street party. They wouldn't even provide ice or offer anything at all in the way of help. I'm not much of a pub-goer but if I was going for a drink I'd go to the Salisbury myself. The Oakdale Arms is a bit of a dive, frankly. Still it's a shame for it to be turned into a block of flats.
The planning link seems to work normally. I've attached the appeal decision which shows that the only way the building won't happen for certain is for applicant to fail to start building works by 22/05/11.

Yeah the Dutch house looks a bit scary. I don't mind the Salisbury although the ladies' loos are horrible. Particulalry if you go by a ratio of nice room:bad toilets
Heading off topic again, but we visited The Finsbury for the first time last week and was genuinely surprised. Very friendly staff and they now have live music on Saturdays. On the downside, I don't remember seeing any proper ales on tap.
