Aah, thanks for that Kelly and thanks for the tip about Secret Cinema too.
Thanks for that. My friend arrived by W3 telling me of Arabs, horses and giant goats! glad to know the truth
@harringayonline Thanks for investigating. More fake Bedouins today - I stopped on one Station Road to ask him, he explned Secret Cinema!
Lawrence of Arabia is the film they're showing.
ssssh!

Actually, it's now Monday so ok to reveal all.
Please tell me there are pictures of this secret cinema event? So secret, in fact, the local paper missed out.

If there are, I'd love to see some.

As you would on so much without HoL, eh, Elizabeth! ;o)
I do wish I had known!

I found out about it yesterday when I was visiting a stables in Kineton, Warwicks. I was chatting with one of the grooms and she told me that she had just got back from Muswell Hill, having helped her sister-in-law deal with her string of camels that she brought to the Ally Pally over the weekend.

She said that they also did ordinary treks around the dusty, rock-strewn and blazing wilderness of the Warwickshire countryside and I determined to take advantage of that some time soon. After all, who would venture alone on foot into that desolate and waterless hell?

So--if anyone else fancies hacking out on a camel, contact me and we can arrange a mutual time to suit and drive out there in the same car. I don't know where the camels are kept, but it takes about 2 hours to get to Kineton. There are a lot of snarl-ups on the N. Circ at present, so one has to budget for an extra 30 mins but if people are sharing the driving that's not too bad.
Little bit clearer on the 'sister' website 'Future Shorts', under 'FS News'.

FS puts up Flickr sets. Or click thru via their 'Gallery' tab on the left of the FS site. Prob see a set of the Ally Pally event soon.
A little more info from someone I know who went. Tickets were £25 each for the venue and entertainment supplied. Great Hall was hired, large screen and good sound system showing Lawrence of Arabia. London was split into 4 tribes, west-east-north-south, with members from each being met at Ally Park by someone on a horse with a large flag apparently, a few camels on the scene, props set up inside to represent scenes of the movie.
Although this review of the event paints a slightly different picture:

Sounds intriguing, but watching a 3 1/2 hour film sat on the hard floor of the great hall would be enough to have me a-rumbling and a-grumbling too.
