Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The UK SoundMap is a new community-led survey in sound of the acoustic landscape ('soundscape') of Britain.

You can help answer these questions:

* What does the UK sound like today?

* What impact do these sounds have on our lives?

The SoundMap is a partnership project of the British Library and the Noise Futures Network. It uses widely available mobile technology in a novel way to capture and aggregate research-quality audio samples. Your recordings will be studied by experts from the Noise Futures Network and we shall post an overview of the research results once sufficient data has been collected and analysed.

For a quick look at the map, it looks like early day. Harringay is untouched. Who's going to be the first to add a Harringay sound?

Gasp, shock, horror. I've uploaded my first entry to the soundmap and it's not Harringay. Waaaaat! (I hear y'all cry). Well, sorry folks I do my Fish & chips at Toffs in Muswell Hill and whist I was there thought it would make a nice addition. Apparently it takes up to 48 hrs to get uploaded to the map. But if you just can't wait to hear an Audioboo of Toffs, le voici.
This is strangely addictive.

I like the bus journey on the New Kent Road. the dovecote at Felbrigg Hall in Norfolk and the ones from the beaches near Stornoway.
I like the sound of the Talisker Whisky Distillery on Skye!
I'm sure the BrtLib will be happy to slum it!
