Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Described as a 'labour of love' by the Londonist, the London Sound Survey is capturing the sounds of London. Places, events and wildlife are being captured and mapped.

You can read more about the aim of the site here, listen to Seven Sisters indoor market here and read descriptions of the lost sounds of London here

and if you love that you won't want to miss the British Library Sound Archive - don't miss the traditional music section

Thanks Liz - this is great!
I'm greedy. I want sound and moving colour pictures.

After digital cameras had incorporated video, the Flickr website added the facility to post short videos as well as photos. One suggestion made by Flickr staff was to think about a "long photo" - perhaps several seconds with the same subject. Which can have sound as well.

Some people take a short video pan across a scene. Others edit very brief clips together. Or use the facility for a slideshow.

I was interested in the possibilities of static shots - trying to capture the feel and flavour of a location simply by letting a static camera run for several seconds while things around change and move. (There are a few examples here, though this Flickr group never took off.)

The often beautiful and striking fixed-point stop-motion videos you've highlighted Liz, are a similar though far more successful example.

Are there short videos as well as the astonishing aerial photos from McFly?
