It's embarrassing to say the least for those of us who have lived in this Borough all of our lives. People can keep it in mind Simon but when it comes to the Ballot Box nothing changes - I wonder why?

Well… it is a bit flakey isn’t it? Having the highest number of complaints could just mean more people complain than in other boroughs. Having the highest number of upheld complaints could mean complaints are taken more seriously than in other places. It’s not really a measure of actual services is it? What about repeat complaints by the same person?

I tend to agree, I had the same situation with a large company I worked for. Only written complaints were included in the stats, as a consequence this didn't really reflect actual service shortfalls in any region, but more on the literary enthusiasm of certain elements within them.
As boroughs go, Haringey isn't that bad in comparison to some others.

BRIAN, this topic has had more and earlier attention on HoL here.
The title of this thread ("worst council for complaints ") is inaccurate and misleading.
According to the Private Eye article reproduced in the linked post, Birmingham was the most complained about, with more than 600 Complaints.
However if one is being honest and objective—as the Local Government Ombudsman is—then this needs to be adjusted for population.
Capita per 100,000 residents is the standard measure. It is by this independent measure—used by the LGO—that Haringey ranks as No.1.
Adjusted for number of residents, Birmingham does significantly better than Haringey, at only 8.1 Upheld Complaints per 100k, versus Haringey Council's chart-topping 20.2.
The title is correct in that Haringey Council leads for the second year in a row. The current leadership of the Borough of Culture 2027 has been in place for the last three years.

Clive: So pleased you keep highlighting Haringey’s role as Borough of Culture 2027. Even if there are many things to complain about in the way the council behaves overall, it’s just possible that some events, exhibitions, performances or other artistic endeavours might in fact appeal to some of the borough’s residents, and even encourage them — or visitors — to think, to be entertained or to enjoy aspects of life here, even if you (presumably) won’t. Have you any details of the proposed events that you can share with us yet?
