In one of those extraordinary moments when you see something amazing on quite an ordinary day, I was privileged to watch a flock of waxwings flying over the Harringay Passage, resting for an all too brief moment in a tree in a garden next to the Passage.
It's the first time in my life, after many years of squinting into trees and scouring the sky as a keen but quite bad birdwatcher, that I got to see these beautiful birds.
There are terrible Iphone photos but they are at least a record of a special moment. I hardly dared breathe until they had gone.

Oh my! I’m not very up on my birds but they look amazing. How wonderful.
According to my more birdy family it’s an unusual time of year to see them - they should be away by now.
They do stay until April according to the RSPB site but that's the very tail end of their stay here. I believe they've been spotted over in Alexander Park too. They'll be heading back to their summer homes very shortly I should think
Great stuff! Thanks for posting these pictures.
They were there again this morning (Wed 24th) at 9.45am between Cavendish and Burgoyne in the big tree on the right as you approach Burgoyne. The cold weather must be making them feel at home! Another terrible iphone photo. (I do get some funny looks I admit when gazing up at a tree for minutes on end)
That’s brilliant. Hope everyone is looking up to see them. They are such a treat!
