Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A huge flock of feral pigeons has taken a shine to our roof. It’s getting messy. Anyone have experience of ways to quickly and humanely get rid?

David Parnell is my go-to expert on any pest matters. His page on pigeon control suggests "Wire systems, spikes, netting procedures plus the new formulation of Bird Free Optical Gel". I guess you could attempt some of this yourself, but if it's the roof, it could be dangerous.  We had pigeons roosting the arm of a satellite dish that one of our tenants had affixed to our rental property. I glued some pigeon spikes on to that and it seems to have been working for the past few years. The area affected on your property seems much larger however; perhaps netting or the gel that David mentions would work.

David is quite generous with his advice. So, he's certainly worth a call - 0800 118 2101 or 077 6137 3060

That is a great tip. Will message David. Thanks so much Hugh.

Is someone regularly feeding them somewhere nearby?  Pigeons used to roost in the roofs above Paddy Power and what is now Stamp as someone regularly put down grain at the junction of Warham Road and Green Lanes most mornings but since they have stopped the pigeons seem to have moved on.

They are. But how do you stop well-meaning neighbours feeding the less pretty birds…?

A cat?

lol. Ours is a wuss

😁

ask them politely to stop? (the neighbours, not the pigeons!)
