Not many Norway Spruces in that stable. Christmas trees link to pagan midwinter festivals. Early xtians were smart enough to make their festivals coincide with existing events, easter, xmas, harvest thanksgiving etc. They have been around since long before the beginning of the Jesus era, arising naturally from the rhythm of seasons and the need for ceremonies of birth and death. Solstices and equinoxes have been marked for thousands of years. The winter solstice was on 20/21st December. The Jewish festival of Chanukhah was from December 7th to 14th.  New Year parties go back to 4000 years ago in ancient Babylon. It is the festive season.

So this chap claims that Islam is trying to replace Christianity and you post that on a thread about a Christmas tree paid for by the Harringay Traders Association who, judging from the businesses operating on Green Lanes, have a large number traders in their group who are Muslim?

I’m flabbergasted that someone can find a way to be offended by a kind gesture

If you want to be picky Christmas doesn’t start until 25 December and ends 12 days later.  The period before is Advent so the tree was there for the festive season, not just Christmas.

Yes, I love the annual Christmas tree! Thank you so much Harringay Trader's! Now, please can we also have another annual food festival? They were so awesome and I really miss them
