More support for Nora here elsewhere in the thread.
Don't know Nora but I thought both Kerry Smith-Jeffreys (Green) and Chris Ford (LD) came across well and might have represented the ward ably. Pity they didn't get in in place of Adamou.
Again, I agree that both seemed like they'd be great representatives for us. I hope they stick around.
Just heard this news. Very sad Nora didn't make it through.
If you look at the numbers then you can't *really* separate that cluster of people (3/4/5). I saw on the news that in one ward they split a deck of cards to choose the victor. I reckon both Nora and Chris should be really proud that so many of the ward believe they would do a great job.

And I have lot of confidence from listening to both of them that this will not even come close to denting their motivation to make things better. Thanks to you both for standing - and I am confident I'll see your names again.

Well said that man.
Fantastic news that Gina Adamou has been re-elected. The wider community outside this self selected (and rather discourteous) sample clearly recognises her hard work, commitment and value or they wouldn't keep electing her.
Thanks Peter.

(And thanks for making the following declaration in your page:

("Harringay resident 1989-2000, Harringay Ward councillor 1994-98")
Could that be the Gina Adamou who sat on the planning committee that imposed the Grainger plan on Seven Sisters, without visiting the site, and spoke not a word throughtout the discussion? This wider community wonders why she bothered turning up at all. Oh I guess her vote was a bit necessary, just so it was 5 - 4.
That is why her fellow councillors like her.
Hi Michelle, sorry but I think you should take the words "I didn't care about the children" that you link to Gina out of your comment. There's no proof she said that is there? Minutes of a meeting for example? It's a highly inflammatory thing to put out in the public domain. ( and before you ask, my request isn't linked to how I voted).
Peter,

I left it a few hours before replying to your post ‘cause it bothered me for a couple of reasons.

First it seems to me looking at the thread in order, that people were expressing interest and (dare I say it) excitement at what was happening. And then disappointment at the fact that we can't have more than three councillors. Looks like we had a very good selection of candidates and I, on the basis of what I saw and heard, voted for the people not the party. In all the contributions only a couple of people expressed any opinion about who got in. (Of course that was before your contribution). So I totally disagree with your global and spiky “rather discourteous”.

Second I just have no idea what you mean by “this self selected … sample”. Again, it is spiky and rather odd.. No one made any comment about the failure of democracy or the breakdown of our electoral system – which is a complete contrast to the national election. People were just contributing.

Personally I don’t like being categorized as “political party X hating, discourteous loudmouth”. Like Susan Vega you will probably find me “left of centre”, but I am not in the box you seem to want to put me in. And from what I saw of the posts before yours virtually all the other contributors are not either. (Apologies to anyone who does consider themselves a bigot).

I follow Liz’s contribution below. The people who were elected made some statements.

Let’s see what they do…….

M.
