A Dear Neighbour letter of 5 October from Network Rail seen on platform 2 today. Extract:
"We are improving the existing Railway Footbridge (inside the station) and installing a new waiting shelter on platforms 1 and 2. We will be using scaffolding, burning equipment, RRV (Road Rail Vehicles), Hiab wagons and general construction equipment.
We will start work on site from Nov 2022 and will work until Jan 2023. Most of our work will be done between 22.00 and 04.30 Saturday to Sunday morning, but there will be times when we need to work during the daytime on the platform and work weekdays Monday - Friday.
From Oct 2022 to Jan 2023, we will be transporting equipment and materials into the work areas. This is to enable us to install the new structure steelwork/waiting shelter. Once the steelwork/painting work is complete we will remove the existing office and redundant elements. This will be carried out during an extended working time during the Christmas Holidays of 2022."
[Apologies for noise and inconvenience follow].
Removing the old booking office (delayed from Christmas 2021?) can only be done when trains are not running, because it's in a very poor state and bits could drop off onto the tracks during demolition.
Replacing Waiting Shelter: this is work not previously announced, and is welcome - the existing shelter on platform 1 (towards Finsbury Park) leaks and has netting in case bits of the roof hit waiting passengers.
No prospect of lifts, by the way - but work at Finsbury Park to add lifts to platforms 7/8 (towards Harringay) is expected to be complete by the end of 2022. Tube-to-street lifts, and Platforms 1/2-to-street lifts (southbound) have been in place for a few years now.
"Hiab wagons" see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrauliska_Industri_AB , John D: it has become generic, like h/Hoover.

Thanks a lot for this update! Disappointing that improving accessibility doesn't seem to feature at harringay at this point (even just widening the "doorways" and removing the grill down to the London bound platform would be GREAT - many buggies, and presumably wheelchairs, can't get through without being completely folded), but good to know what's happening and that fp is having things done. I'm fed up of being pressured to get rid of the car while public transport remains so inaccessible.
Network Rail's press release from February 2021 about footbridge works and the new non-ticket office confirms there will be improvement: "As well as extending the life of the bridge it will create more space at the entrance."
Totally agree. What is the best way to raise this to Network Rail as a priority to have lifts installed? Is there something we could do raise the concern?
Sadly, my feeling is that it is an issue across the network, and other stations with higher levels of footfall/interchange will inevitably be prioritised (e.g. fp, ally pally - even just locally), in addition to the space/topographic issues at Harringay. But... I live in hope!
