Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone know if there are any restrictions on running small campaigns on Green Lanes?

We (MVM) are planning a small stall, possibly outside the old P.O. or an empty shop in the area on Saturday.

The problem is i have not seen anyone doing anything similar. There was a protest meeting outside the P.O against it closing and I have encountered the Labour Party canvassing around the area during elections but that is it.

I understand that there are definite restrictions in Wood Green but do they apply elsewhere?

Thanks

A number of years ago I set up a table for a spot of campaigning on the "People's Piazza" outside the Salisbury Hotel one Saturday mid-morning. It was quite successful because the space afforded conversations without blocking the pavement.

Nobody objected. If my memory is correct, I popped into the bar and informed the manager what I was doing before-hand.

Ask forgiveness, not permission. As long as you are not obnoxious I doubt anyone will care less. The point about blocking the pavement Peter makes is a good point to note.

Outside a closed shop sounds like a good plan - if you stay on the shop premises (you can usually see a change in pavement surface between the shop's land and council land) the council shouldn't tell you to move, and the owner probably won't care.

That's helpful, many thanks to you for replying.

This sort of thing can be a bit awkward.

Thanks
