Maybe this happens a lot but I just had my bank card stolen out of the cash point at Barclays on Green Lanes whilst I was trying to use it. Perpetrator withdrew £500 from somewhere in-between the time of the theft and my cancelling my bank card, within maybe 5 minutes. Please don't comment blaming me for being naive, that I should have been more vigilant to my surroundings etc, etc. I already know that and feel foolish! Luckily my bank was wonderful and refunded the money so it's all good. Just posting to help alert folks - be careful if you use that atm!!

Oh that's awful, so sorry to hear this and really distressing for you. Well done for sorting it with the bank, glad to hear they're doing better at this stuff these days.
Also, thanks for the reminder.
Thanks J!
After I put my card in and entered my pin a bloke came up suddenly behind me and thrust a piece of paper in my face (obviously to cover a hand taking the card out) and shouting at me not to use that machine, that it was broken, and hitting the cancel button. Then he was gone. Very loud, startling and confusing. I don't know how he got my pin, maybe he saw me enter it, or the bank said sometimes they put cameras. I right away went into my banking app to cancel the card but two withdrawals of £250 had already been made from LNK PARADE CHEMIST. Live and learn!
Sorry to hear this. There are just too many dodgy people hanging about Green Lanes nowadays.
I'm also interested in knowing how this happened (if you're willing to share). Did they snatch your card?
Hi Aligator - thanks. I gave more details on the event in response to Al's comment. Cheers.
A side issue, this, but this branch of Barclays will close for good on Friday the 13th.
Barclay's 'closure feedback' report states "There are cash machines nearby at Sainsbury’s, Tesco and the Post Office – all are free to use" which suggests not even the external cash point will survive.
Is there a cash machine at the post office?
I'm also interested in the definition of 'nearby', walking up to the Sainsburys one and back is quite a detour if you're on foot and not planning on going into Sainsburys to shop. Although I guess all that's from a London viewpoint, lots of villages don't have a free one at all
Yes the Post Office has a cash machine BUT inside the store, so it isn't a 24-hour machine.
This website from LINK will tell you all the local cash machines if you input a local postcode e.g. N4 1AQ for the Post Office. [Edit: just typing 'Harringay' also works.]
