Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Was in hospital last week, with respirator and heart issues

And ask what my views policy was. Advised never thought about it

But after six days in various different wards and beds / rooms

Now given it a lot of thought

After seeing beds of senior men, who who was  plumbed in and unable to even carry out basic personal services

Plus beds of men that had mental issues. Who was stuck in Hospital

Being in my early seventies with no direct family or children

I am now giving the matter some serious thought

Seems it is a question they ask on going into recovery wards

Hospital North Middlesex

Treatment and staff good under pressure

Only issue Doctors an staff not accepting my say in taking my insulin. Even when sugar levels was very low. Even when suggesting they call my Diabetic Consultant, within the Hospital

Hope you are feeling better Bob.

I am making my 'Living Will' - it is worth looking up and then making. But also happy you good now

Thanks for support. Thankfully I have other relatives

Issue was Past ills catching up

But it was my first overnight / stay in period .

Yes I have past tests in Cardio ,

But seems past heart stress test seems to have caused more issues. I was advised I need valve treatment. And next appointment is next February. But was seen by member of team. And advised they will try for a earlier date

But really  opened my eyes. And was rather scarey.

Especially when pharmacist advised they had no insulin .

Thankfully my brother brought in my insulin pen and cartridges .

Plus none of their clothing fitted. Again my brother brought in night wear .

Plus blood thinner injections in arm was painful and caused bleeds around injecting areas

Changed to stomach, then tablets , for use at home.

But was a eye opener

Feel a lot better. And managing to get out for shopping etc. Yes I do drive

Many thanks for support

Hope you have a peaceful recovery Bob.

All the best.

sounds terrible, i mean not having insulin to give you, blimey

glad you are home safely to recuperate

My 8 year old son is type-1 diabetic Bob. If you ever need any help from anyone who knows the condition you just give me a shout. I'd be happy to give you a hand.

Sorry to read you’ve been unwell but hope you are feeling better and hope your next appointment comes through earlier than next February.
Regarding DNR, it is a very personal decision to make. My mum made her views clear to me when she was in her mid/late 80s. Her views were helpful to me as her next of kin.

Hallo Bob.

My doctor was helpful re my Living Will and my DNR request. I have a form signed by her in my handbag and wear a DNA bracelet all the time.

Best wishes for your recovery and decisions about your future.
