Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

As the 2012 Olympic Games approach, the London 2012 Organising Committee yesterday announced the landmarks chosen by Londoners to feature in a celebratory set of 'Landmark London' pin badges.

Londoners had from Monday 14 September until midnight on Sunday 18 October 2009 to cast their vote from a list of nominations. Winning landmarks range from visitor attractions, theatres and museums to windmills, clock towers and bridges.

Since these landmarks were apparently chosen by locals, I thought it was an interesting view of what symbols people chose for their area.

No prizes for guessing what won in our neck of the woods!

Oh, not the Salisbury then. Ideal venue for lesser Olympic sports: arm wrestling, arm twisting, ear bending, elbow bending, crap shooting . . . . . .
Or weight lifting involving specially-designed glass vessels containing liquids of a specific gravity...
oh dear.. my other home London Borough..

London Borough of Redbridge: Churchill Statue. On Woodford Green stands a statue of Sir Winston Churchill, Britain's wartime leader who was MP for Wanstead and Woodford for 40 years.

A Imperialist, racist who just about managed to save Britain but lost the Empire..

By co-incidence was just chatting about him on this page..
