Does anyone know of and pharmacies locally that are still offering the (paid-for) flu jab? Tesco and Boots have temporarily stopped offering them.
Thanks!
We got it done last week from Broadway pharmacy in Muswell Hill, after calling 15 pharmacies who were all out of stock.
There are a few pharmacies out there with them but my understanding is that there has been a huge uptake this year (a PHE source told me they'd seen a x3 the normal rate of uptake by last weekend). Because of COVID pharmacies are being encouraged to prioritize the target groups over private patients. Some GP surgeries are only just getting their first batches and are contacting the vulnerable groups first. PHE are expecting flu to hit in November, by which time stocks should be replenished, so keep checking and if you are a vulnerable patients, speak to your GP - they should have a plan in place.
I get mine on the NHS and managed to get mine last week after booking two weeks in advance.
If there is such a shortage though, perhaps it's best to wait until that's sorted and let pharmacies and surgeries prioritise vulnerable people and those who work with them?
I know I'm technically "vulnerable" but I didn't know about the shortage and now I feel slightly bad that I may have made it more difficult for a doctor or care worker to get vaccinated.
I got mine at Parade Chemist on Green Lanes. Was no trouble, booked a couple of days ahead for me and hubby
