Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I joined HoL again primarily to ask how people feel about parking enforcement on Green Lanes.

The stretch between Falkland and Frobisher is single yellow with no loading times too. Yet every day, most of the day super-cars are parked there and I don't see a lot of enforcement.  I've ask the council to keep tabs on that spot. There are some spots on West Green road where the same thing is happening.

It's unfair people get free parking all day while the rest of us have to pay for it!

Things are a bit patchy on Green Lanes northbound during the 4-7 peak. As a cyclist it's very frustrating that people park and block a clear route through the traffic.  But the warden was doing a good job yesterday clearing and ticketing cars parking outside Yashar Halim.

I genuinely think there a lot of parkers who have no idea how to read the signs.

Do other cyclist have similar concerns? Or am i getting worked up about nothing (that would not be a 1st!)

I think you're doing the illegal parkers a disservice. Many know exactly what they're doing.

I understand that it's very easy to dodge paying the charges if you just completely ignore the fines that come through - I remember reading that London council's lose millions in unenforceable fines.

Rest assured, Neil. Other cyclists, other pedestrians, other motorists (I fall into all three categories) have similar concerns.

Ticketing cars doesn't seem to be a full deterrent. Perhaps some other form of grassroots action might be considered.

Ideas, anyone?

One positive change that has occurred recently is changing single yellow lines to double at the mandatory right hand turn on St Ann's (by the Salisbury).

This means anything large and articulated now has a vaguely acceptable turning circle in which to do so. The street furniture there is absolutely battered (including a telecoms cabinet) and several of the trees which made that little space vaguely nice have been destroyed.
