News on the re-opening of libraries in the borough
The government has announced that library services can begin to be restored from 4 July. Haringey Council are currently considering plans to begin the resumption of some services across the borough’s libraries.
It is very important to note that the libraries will not be reopening in full yet and it will be some time before all facilities are restored to usual order.
Currently two Haringey libraries are operating a limited service
St Ann's and Muswell Hill Libraries
On Monday 6 July, St Ann’s and Muswell Hill Libraries reopened some services.
Please note that both libraries are open as follows:
- Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 July, from 12pm to 2.30pm - book drops and for staff-selected book collection only.
- From Wednesday 8 to Saturday 11 July, from 10.30am to 2.30pm - book drops, ‘grab and go’ and preselected book bags.
Look out further updates as more library services reopen.
Although we library users will be keen to resume using the libraries, it is imperative that public safety and that of library workers is the number one priority.
In the meantime, some library services continue online and can be accessed using your library card

I´m very happy to see that libraries are little by little (and safely) opening up.
I went to St Ann's library this morning to return a few books and pick up a new one and I can´t imagine how I could have felt safer. You could tell how they are taking it seriously, hope the public follow suit.

I'm somewhat surprised it's taken so long. Given the local authority advice activity that goes on at Wood Green, the IT services provided to those not online at home, and the general importance of libraries as community centres you could argue they were essential services from the start.

I totally agree Ian. As I could confirm yesterday, if you´ve got the will there are easy ways to make it safe for everyone. Even keeping them open with limited services would have made sense.

UPDATE: 13/07
On Monday 13 July, Wood Green Library will reopen for the following services only:
- Drop Boxes – users can return books in a designed ‘drop box’ situated just inside the library.
- Click and collect – collection of books that have been pre-ordered online or by phone
- Grab & Go – grab a self-selection of books by customers but with no provision to sit or stay to browse
Wood Green Library will be open 10am to 4pm, Monday – Saturday, until further notice.
