Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Anybody know why the northern carriageway in the park (closed to motor traffic) has acquired a zebra crossing? A little unnecessary and disfiguring? There also appears to be one next to the cafe (again on a section closed to motor traffic).

I can only assume that Haringey Council's traffic management section (or whatever it is called) has run out of roads to put humps on and that was all they could think of to blow their budget on...
If they have any budget, there is an urgent issue less than a hundred yards away...
Perhaps, it was used in a film? Or maybe to test 'zebra painters' before they qualify?

And what untidy leaves.. lol not like our orderly German ones - lol:

3x Essentials - Ordnung

p.s. notice the swept bike lane ** boast**
Don't worry, they've just finished spending a part of that budget on repaving Effingham Rd, to which I'm sure Councillor Adamou (a resident) will be very pleased!
Impressive Steve - but for a park (and especially as this is one of the less formal areas), a little naturalness is ok?
Alistair, I think you may have a point there :o)

BTW, on a serious note, here you could sue the council if you slipped on wet leaves.. so there's a method in the madness..

p.s. looking in the other direction:
3x Essentials - Gründlichkeit
I think it's fantastic the the authorities in Berlin have found a species of tree that drops in leaves in exactly the right place.
I suppose it's time to confess - the council workers had been out with their vacuum cleaners -

OT: If anyone can understand German & Italian - they'll understand the sign on this bin (spoken from No.1) :
Sei pico, Sei bello, Sei Berlin, Be clean, Be beautiful, Be Berlin .. and that from the grubbiest city in Germany.. :o)

Ahhh.... that's Hackney Alistair.
It might be closed to motorised traffic but the road is used by cyclists and they go down this section at a terrific speed ....
You should post some pictures of this behaviour, better yet a short movie.
Nah - I quite enjoy the frisson of danger on my walk to work, and in any case I like to reserve my ire for the motorists who sail through the red light at the Endymion gate crossing.
