If you agree with her or have other ideas about how to improve the waste and recycling in this aspiring greenest borough than please complete this consultation. Otherwise they'll set policy by what a focus group in Muswell Hill says about fallen autumn leaves (like they did last time) You have until 18th September but DO IT NOW :)

Perhaps outlets that sell batteries (Supermarkets, Maplins, Poundshops etc ) should be encouraged to provide battery recycling bins. I suppose the trouble is you buy batteries, take them home and change them.
How dangerous are they really anyway ?

I agree that outlets should have bins to put them in.
I noticed in Spain that many bus stops had little battery recycling bins placed at them (is the psychology that people change batteries while waiting for public transport?).

This is our system: In English (User Info), as well as legal requirements
All stores that sell batteries are required to take back used ones...

Thanks for the link to this very useful website, Liz. I'm embarrassed I haven't spotted it before.
Let's hope Haringey Council haven't inadvertently included it in the list of blocked sites which their staff can't access!
Scattered on the pages of HoL and both our pages on Flickr, are some observations and ideas for improving recycling by bringing in traders. The comments from JohnD and Stephen in Berlin are two of several examples. Another was our online discussion about getting Christmas tree sellers to give information about local schemes for recycling trees as mulch.
I passed on this suggestion to Encams but never heard from them. I'm wondering how these and lots of other people's ideas can be gathered and tried out in practice.
