Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Per here: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/great-northern-313-withdrawals...

It seems the final demise of the 43 year old trains will occur when they rotate to the end of their diagram on Monday night.

There are five pairs left at Hornsey. Three were out today, with one stored over the main lines at Ferme Park and one being prepped for disposal.

They'll need to retain a pair for the final special rail tour, of course, but their revenue tenure is apparently very nearly at an end.

Attached is 313037 leading a classmate into Hornsey working 2B07 1610 Moorgate-Hertford North today (my penultimate run on one!)

Last ride on one for me (I'd guess) today (Saturday), caught the 1051 from Highbury & Islington to Harringay (049+048 if of interest). Unplanned too!

I remember my first from Hornsey - I think in 1981

Thanks - What Final Special Rail Tour?

This - https://www.ukrailtours.com/product/gerrys-313-farewell/

Fully booked, it seems. Wed 23 Oct, starting from Kings Cross at 1000 and travelling to all Great Northern points covered by the units including a ride over the flyover just north of Harringay station.

Now rumours are one set might make it to Tuesday - it seems the diagram rotation has one set booked to stable overnight at Hertford... tomorrow here’s a one off change to the empty stock movement - the units which worked the 1810 from Moorgate (a 313 last week) will be sent to Letchworth instead of just stabling in Hertford carriage sidings.

There is a potential they’ll swap this pair of units with a 717 at some point, allowing the 313s to slink quietly back to Hornsey to meet their fate.

All this on a backdrop of GN’s self imposed deadline of 30/9...

I’m sure we’ll see how it unfolds tomorrow. But regardless, it is very nearly journey’s end...

Nope. End of the road confirmed.

The two units (037+051) in the photo I attached were sent for scrap this morning - very clinical for the railway! 052+059 won't be far behind.

039+061 worked the extras in the morning peak before retiring to Hornsey.

048+049 are the final pair in service. Currently running a diagram which will end at Moorgate at 23:33, before a final empty stock run to their fate.

064+134 are the two units being prepared for the rail tour - so far they've had some shiny yellow ends. Not sure if GN will spring any cash for more than that!
