Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

We've just moved into a two-bedroom flat on the ladder with unmetered water and have gotten our first bill, which is £38/month. It's significantly higher than our last flat which was around the corner, but had metered water. Our average bill there was £24.

For those with unmetered bills, what are you paying? £38 seems high to me, but I have no basis for comparison other than our old flat.

Seems high to me - I'm on the ladder in a two-bedroom flat unmetered and my bill is the equivalent of £30 per month.

Hi Lina. I'm in a 2 bed, our water is now a bit over £20 a month after we got a meter. It used to be £37 unmetered.

I just called and they told me that it's not unmetered, there's no meter, which is apparently a different system entirely where the price is based on the value of the property or something like that.

We are in a house on the ladder and we pay about £30 a month, metered.

It sounds like you can get into the bottled water business.

This was on a TV programme. Where Council Tenants was charged a High Fixed Fee.                                       But after discussions Water Authority dropped Charged

I am on water Meter and Bill to date is Third of what it was on Unmetered

Aware that Water Authorities have different charged, depending on property and value

Is there a chance you can get a Water Meter Fitted. They was offering them without and charges

I would like to, but I think it's up to my landlord as I'm a renter.

If your tenancy agreement is longer than six months, you don't need the landlord's consent, the contract is between you and the water company. However it's best you ask and agree so you don't have problems with them.

I had to pay over £25/ month as a single person 1 bedroomed flat, for about 20years, despite complaining numerous times. Told me I couldn’t be on a meter until about 2ywars ago where they changed their mind and fitted me a meter. Now I pay £10/ mth but they still refused me compensation for all those years they over charged me.
