Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Killed my first cockroach of 2009 last week - was sweeping the path and the little get came out of a weed. Battered him back to hell with the broom.

Also, removed a dead mouse from the garden, having noted with some fury that the bastards are back in my kitchen despite having lined most of the house with wire wool.

Fans of nasty things might wish to know that a wasp was sipping liquid from inside the dead mouse's eye as I packed the little creature off into a carrier bag.

What other signs have we seen that our local fauna and flora are flourishing this spring?

Do you drop it on them from a great height??
killed second cockroach of 2009. found trapped in my kitchen sink. bludgeoned inefficiently with a washing-up brush. boy, those things take a while to die.
ANT watch - flying ants crawling around all over kimberley gardens last night, fortunately the deluge stopped them from swarming
Yeah- loads around us on Ritches. My cats thought the flying ants were great fun!
Tiny frogs everywhere this morning. We saw our first one in the passage just South of Warham and were still spotting them at the top of Burgoyne. We counted a dozen but there must have been many more as it was really hard to spot them until they moved (they were about the size of a penny) and we were rushing for the train.
In the last week I have removed two more dead mice from my garden - whoever is poisoning them in this part of Green Lanes is doing a great job.

However, a very alive one was winking at my wife from behind the fridge when we got up for breakfast this morning.

So latest scores for 2009:-

Mouse count: 3 alive, 3 dead
Cockroach count: 2 - both killed.

Let's compare scores, people.
Hey, come on, you an amateur or what?

Cockroaches despatched (they came from next door): 3
Mice sent to the great wine and cheese party in the sky: oh, I'd say 5 at least.

They've gone.. for now
