Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A recent issue of the Hornsey Historical Society Bulletin has a fascinating article by John Liffen about the almost legendary Alexandra Palace Lakeside Railway. My friend Mick Berg who lives in California is passionate about railways including that one. I remember riding it - 50s I assume. I seem to recall that the A4 Mallard Class streamlined engine featured in a cutaway in the Eagle comic which added excitement for us kids. I also think I spotted at least one Stationer's School cap on a boy! Day off so must have been a first former.

Great footage. I love the clothes, the hats and caps and a great example of 1940/50s head scarf tying, but most of all I'm bewitched by the engine drivers 'fag' which never leaves his mouth.
