Removing a 1930s fireplace from a wall in a reusable condition - recommendation wanted

Hello,

Can anyone recommend someone who can remove a 1930s tiled fireplace from its original position in one house and move it to another please?

It is currently attached to the wall and floor in someone else's property and we are hoping it can be removed in a good enough condition to install it in our house.

Does anyone have experience of getting this type of job done? Is this an impossible task, or is there someone out there who can do it please?

Thanks,

Hilary

Hi

I've had experience of having one fitted. I don't have the details of the person who removed it from its original home - it was fine except a few tiles came off and a couple broke. It may come with metal brackets that are sunk into the wall plaster.

The person who fitted it to mine is called Geoff Willett 07973 224 520. Despite all the plasterwork involved, him and his son left the place cleaner than before. They also made a 'fake' inset so it looks like a real fire (I've got a gel fire in the basket). A decent plasterer/tiler should be able to do this job.

I hired a Jeff's Removals (07973 179 610) to shift it. Those tiled fireplaces are both fragile (so need packing carefully) and heavy  - mine needed four men to carry it. Pic attached of my fireplace in its original home so you can compare its size with yours.

Thanks very much Christy
