This strange and lovely tree is near the Manor House cafe, between the carriage drive and the Council nursery. It has black seeds in little purses hanging from it.

Oh wow. They showed one of these trees on BBC Gardeners' World last week. Thx for the info. I will go and look at it tomorrow. Apparently the flowers have a beautiful scent, too so will wait until next year for that joy!
