Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Has anyone set up their house as a smart home, in part or in full?  What sort of tradesman did you get to do this?

Depends how 'smart' you are trying to go? We have quite a lot of Hive devices (including a camera pointed at our front door). The husband just installed most of them except the boiler which must be done by a qualified electrician

I will come and install cameras and microphones and speakers in your house for you. I will hook it all up to a special device that co-ordinates these devices and sends commands by relaying everything it sees and hears to a huge datacentre near the arctic circle owned by a large American corporation. It will see if you're walking around in your underwear and turn the heating down. It will listen out if you're having sex and close the curtains. It will hear when you're arguing with your partner and dial a relationship counsellor. It's really SMART.

It’s relatively straight forward using Nest (or hive) you then just need to get yourself a google home (or Alexa) and some compatible light bulbs and cameras etc and you’re well on your way.

Surely Winston Smith can tell you what it will be like!

Wouldn't do it myself, suggest reading this article: https://gizmodo.com/the-house-that-spied-on-me-1822429852/
