It's been a tough year for birds. The peculiar weather has meant berry crops have been disappointing and hard to find.
We can help them get through the winter with fat balls, sunflower hearts, peanuts and other high energy foods. Places like Wilkinson's sell these things at pretty reasonable prices or you can make your own out of lard and suet.

Thanks for the reminder Liz. The children & I sometimes make fat balls during the depths of winter - it's amazing to see how quickly they are consumed!
We sometimes put them inside halved coconut shells (is that the right term?) and hang a couple off the washing line and leave others on the ground.
