Thanks for the welcome and info Hugh.

I wasn't sure at first whether I could join as my street is not officially part of "harringay" but it's nice to find a local online community that is close enough!

    Cheers

No I didn't, thanks for the link, I'll check it out. (Is it bad that I've lived here for ten years and don't know where bowes is?!)

    Hi Hugh,

Just a quick note to thank you for the wonderful service HoL provides. We lived in Manor House for five years before returning to Melbourne, but left behind an investment property full of happy tenants/ex-flatmates. Yours is the single best source of news on how the area we called home is progressing.

    So again, many thanks.

    Hi Hugh,
    My name is Mirko.
I'm an Italian who lives in wightman road.
I have been advised to use this forum to post messages about obtaining work from a member of this forum. I had done some refurbishment work for him and he has suggested this site to me.
I would like to post some advertisement for maintenance/building work on this forum.
    Is this ok to do?
    Kind regards,
    Mirko

Thanks for your welcoming message Hugh. I've lived in Harringay for 3 years now but I don't really get a community feel from the area hence joining this forum. Also would be good to get recomendations for builders etc. Looking forward to getting involved.

  • Shaheeda

    Thanks Hugh.

Hello Hugh, Thanks for the welcome.

It is an excellent and lively site which I am sure I will enjoy using.

    Keep up your good work!

  • Abi

Thanks Hugh - sorry for the random comment - I didn't realise it would also show up in the home feed! Was just experimenting as wasn't sure what it did, but you've sated my curiosity now :)

  • Shar

LOL, i will try not to be too much toil or trouble ;)
  • Rajinald

How very speedy of you Hugh!
  • Rajinald

Nope. A friend who lives near Turnpike lane sent it to me. the recommendations seem a little out of date.

  • cheryl

Not at all (LOL).  You won't be able to get rid of me now!!!

    Hi Hugh

I received your mail but when I click " compose " I don't get the list of connections that used to come up so I can't select an adressee. All my connections seem to be there. Also, if I click " Reply " the reply doesn't seem to be sent.

  • Pinenut

    Hi Hugh

Do you know how I can stop my Harringay online profile from showing when I google my name?

    Does that make sense?

  • Shamir Sidhu

    Hi Hugh,
You coming to the bootcamp on Saturday??
Would be good to see you there.

Also, there doesn't seem to be many people interested in the story, I've seen more replys for gardener wanted...  :)
Maybe everyone in Haringey are Morefit already.
  • Alison Graham

    Hi Hugh

I am having trouoble responding to your message.  It doesn't seem to send, what to do??

  • Moroney

Thanks for message Hugh.  It’s a great site! I'm hoping to find somewhere to live via the site.  I lived in Harringay for many years, latterly on Chesterfield Gardens returning to Ireland a few years ago.  I'm back here during the week for work and hoping to find a berth doing the week.  What’s the best way to do this? Naturally on the ‘Find a home’ Group I guess, but is it appropriate to use the discussion forum as well?

    Thanks.  James Moroney

Although you might want to remove Twitter link as it returns dud page now.
  • pamish

resisting it. Seems like too much information.
  • pamish

Maybe. But why do I have this stupid (masochistic?) need to keep watching this stuff? I think its now head under the pillow time.

Is it this week that twitter training thing? Somebody thinks wards corner needs it.

  • pamish

    found it.
  • franmouse

Thanks for the welcome, Hugh. Been following your excellent updates on Twitter.
  • Colin Marr

    Hugh,

You are correct! And I am still in bob-a-job mode trying to help the community. Only now it's more to do with trying to get folk to rise up and object to some of the nasty things that go on all around us - like Haringey Heartlands!

HoL is great - keep it up.

    Colin

Thanks for the message Hugh :o) We're moving into the ladder tomorrow and this site looks great, can't wait to have a proper look through and see what's going on (once the dust settles..) Hopefully see you soon!
  • James Putzel

Hi Hugh, Thanks for the welcome to the site. I was delighted to stumble on it today. I did try to upload a photo in my profile settings, but it was not self-evident after identifying the photo with "browse", how it could then be uploaded. No doubt just evidence of my ineptness with these sorts of sites. Any tip?

    Thanks,

    James

  • James Putzel

    Hi Hugh,

It seems your instruction page (to which you referred me) is out of date. Go to your profile page and see if it works the way the instructions outline in terms of changing your photograph. As far as I can tell, I get to the page: it has a browse box for uploading a photo and I can locate my photo for uploading but it has no button for completing the operation. I don't really have time to mess around with this.

    Best wishes,

    James

  • James Putzel

    Hi Hugh,

I will abandon this for now. I did try with another browser. The difference may be that I do not get a "Change photo" but a "Add Photo". On the profile page then there is no option to "Choose file" but only a button to "browse". Could it perhaps have something to do with setting up a new profile? Maybe you should go through the steps as if you are joining with another email address and see if you can still add a photo to a new profile.

    Cheers,

    James

  • James Putzel

Hugh, I must just be thick. I did exactly what you describe but once my file (photo) is selected by using the Browse button, there is no further step to get it uploaded. No button to "choose file" or "upload now" or anything of that sort. Simply double clicking on the file while selecting it through browse does not do the trick. Sorry. I guess I can stick with anonymous icon, which I rather like. J

    Thanks Hugh,

We live in Heysham Rd, N15 at the moment but are looking to buy a house in harringay Ladders or Gardens. Would the be anyway that I can contact people in these areas to learn more about their streets and to see if anyone was thinking of sellling soon?

    Many thanks,

Great to meet you too. Sadly I can't drink coffee (long story) so won't be able to enjoy the Weanie Beans but Laurence will (I can but sniff longingly...).

Off to see if you've posted about the coffee shop.

    Hi Hugh,

    Thank you.

I'm a bit preoccupied with my missing cat at the moment but as soon as he's back I'll read everything properly.

    Thanks again,
