Hi Margaret, welcome to the site - great to have someone form Salisbury on board. I hope you find the site useful/interesting. Do let me know if you have any questions.
By "limbo land" did you mean that Salisbury Road is in neither of the main chunks of Harringay (Gardens & Ladder)?
There are Area Assemblies which provide an opportunity of sorts to find out what's happening. See Adam's post in the penultimate comment of the the first page of the traffic discussion for a link to details on the next one. That should provide an oppportunity to network face-toface with some locals.
The Gardens also have a residents association (see navigation panel on main page for a link). I'm not sure if they include Salisbury within their area.
I hope you'll also find this site very informative on what's going on and it'll also let you link to other locals.
Just reflecting on your comment Margaret, it'd be interesting to know what your concerns are. You can either comment back to me, if you'd care to share your thoughts, or make a post to the main forum.
I also only half-answered your implied question. What are people doing about it. In summary, something, but probably not enough. On the Ladder we have the LCSP, see my post yesterday about them. Ian Sygrave, the organiser, has been very active in the Ladder on opposing planning law breaches an recently I've been working with him opposing the rash of betting shops seeking permission to open on Green Lanes.
If you dig through the forums you'll get some sense of what people are doing.
I started this website last year after being involved, for the first time, in a local campaign - about the CPZ. As part of that campaign I knocked a few doors and was struck how isolated many people were about what's what locally. I then went from musing about swapping email addresses to thinking it couldn't be that difficult to set up a website. It's s start; connecting people needs to be the first step. We then need to move to organising and collaborative, effective action.

PS: Green Lanes has a "Strategy Group" chaired by Councillor Nilgun Canver. Her contact details and those of your other councillors can be found again via the navigation panel on the main page.
Hello Margaret,
I was wondering whether it would be worth starting a group, similar to the Kid Stuff one but with a focus on the issues that might concern older members of the site, such as park provision for the elderly as you mentioned in the thread. Take a look at Some information on using and starting groups
and see what you think.
best wishes

A group to share knowledge of great places to buy good local food. Info on allotments, farmer's markets, community gardens, local producers, businesses & city farms.
Hi Margaret, Just wondered whether you would be interested in joining our book club? We meet about once a month. This month we are reading The Boy in the striped pjamas by John Boyne. We are meeting this Thursday 19 June 8.30pm in the Salisbury Hotel doesnt give you much time to read the book but it would be nice to meet you. Ruthx
I already belong to 2 book clubs in the borough but have no problem in joining another one. However this Thursday I am already double booked at a film club and another meeting so some other time would be possible. Keep in touch.
Hi, Margaret. It was a pleasure meeting you the other day at the TSC party at Matthew's. If there's anything I can do to help you, please get in touch. Hope you're well.
