This last year we had our parking zone restricted by 2/3 cars [for what what reason we have no idea] and the only parking fines that have been given out are to direct residents at the top of Hampden Lane. Whilst the parking restriction for THFC home games has eased the abillty of local residents to be able to park, no visitor permits have been made available [my parents have to visit when Spurs are not playing at home] Why hasn't Haringey provided visitor parking permits like other boroughs?
My bigger gripe is the much overlooked problem of the many car owning persons that park up to visit the dole office [on the corner of Hampden Lane and the old high road.] The lane is horribly congested and often cars park up on the single yellow and double yellow lines, yet no parking attendants are ever seen to be doing their job of enforcing these zones...[unless it's a week day at 8.26am and my car with its CPZ permit is parked on the single yellow line] I am not alone to have been given a parking ticket at this hour. If the council were to pay attention and enforce this zone the wardens attending Hampden lane during the week would clean up. The lane is greatly affected by the attendants of the benefits office who drive there [opening hours 10am-4pm] In two years i have not seen a parking officer on the lane enforcing the parking codes.
That said, it has been of great amusement to myself and that of my neighbors as to the class of vehicle that many of the benefit claiments drive -BMW...Mercedes...Audi...
The fact that the council seems to over look the parking breaches on a weekly basis and does not send wardens out to patrol the lane is baffling. If anyone can give advice and let us know who to complain to we will be very greatfull. Hampden Lane needs a 8am-6pm CPZ pronto. If you think I am being harsh just take a walk up here and see for yourself.
