Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Cyclist hit a bus at the junction of green lanes and the exit of the bus station.

It looked pretty serious. A very depressing sight this morning. I hope the cyclist will be ok.

A few weeks back I saw 3 busses pull out of the bus station on a red light. I've no idea why they did it but it seemed really dangerous when it happened. The pedestrian crossing light was green. I did mention this to the policeman incase there was some connection with the traffic lights malfunctioning at times? Has anyone else noticed this?

Hi

Yes I was there this morning.

It was chaos getting to work due to the roads being shut but I total feel sorry for the person who was knocked down by the bus.

Turnpike lane is always a big problem

Personally I do not know why people ride bicycles on the road around such congested areas.

My heart goes out to the cyclist and their family

I hope the issue with the signal failure is handled in a correct and professional manner

the buses are a rule to themselves.

the buses are a rule to themselves.

So are some cyclists. Let's not pass judgement until we know the full story.

"Personally I do not know why people ride bicycles on the road around such congested areas."

Because the roads are congested and so buses take ages; because it is so enjoyable; because it is free; because it gets you where you want to go quickly and you know almost exactly how long each journey will take; because it is good for your health. There are probably other reasons but these are a few from the top of my head.

Here, here

"to get from A to B" was my first thought

Taken from this report -expect more and more cyclists folks.

They ignore the pedestrian crossing.  I've complained to TFL about it before.

Also the phasing of the lights at the main turnpike lane/westbury ave junction is out so busses pull out of the station and there is no wher for them to go so they get 'stuck' across the road waiting for the next lights to change. in the meantime the bus exit junction lights for normal traffic on green lanes are green and that traffic has no where to go as the bus is in the way. I cycle this route every day and often have to either wait for a couple of changes of the lights or bite the bullet and dodge round the bus to continue my journey.

We also really need a more comprehensive pedestrian crossing at the station. TFL close the Ducketts Common and High Road entrances to the station after 10pm and I see so many people just darting across the road rather than using the lights to get to the Ducketts Common side. They spent so long working on the road I thought they would add a crossing for pedistrians but no luck.
