Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Not historical nobility, but a local musician called Tom Jenkinson. He also goes under the name of Squarepusher. He used to live in Chelmsford but now resides in HOL land.

I remember seeing an album he did called Alroy Road Tracks. So I guess that's where he lives.
where did you see it?
I just googled it. It's all over.
What a great name for a pub!
Come on Birdy.. I didn't expect to hear that from you...

Why should pubs always be named after titled people or royalty? Don't they get enough perks?

I thought those days were long gorn !!
It might be self titled and not royalty derived like in the Dukes of Hazard ; )
Exactly John!

Scoff as the rest of you may, there are many truly distinguished and creative people who more than deserve their titles. Whether self-styled or not. Does anyone really begrudge an honorific for Duke Ellington; Lady Day Holiday, Count Basie and Aretha Queen of soul?

At least they didn't buy their titles for cash or favours.
RATHER A LOT OF THESE PUBS WERE BOUGHT FOR RETIRED CAPTAINS BY THE CURRENT COMMANDER AND NAMED IN HONOUR OF OUT OF GRATITUDE. THE NEW OWNER OF THE PUB COULD WELL HAVE BEEN LEFT WITH NOTHING AFTER SERVING MOST OF THIER LIFE. IT'S ONLY NATURAL THEY WOULD NAME THE PUB AFTER THEM.

AS OPPOSED TO ROAD NAMES ! A LOT OF THESE ROAD NAMES WERE NAMED AFTER THE FRIENDS OF COUNCILORS AND PROBABLY CORRUPT.

ALSO, BY THE WAY, THERE IS ALREADY A 'HARRINGAY ARMS' IN CROUCH END.

WHY NOT A 'COUNT DRACULA ARMS' - HE DID A LOT OF DRINKING AND WAS LOCAL.
