Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Left my house this morning to find two estate agents to let signs have materialised in my tiny front garden one for Brian Thomas and one for Anthony Pepe.  Anthony Pepe have skewered their's through the middle of my hedge, giving me a lovely view of it from my front room! To add insult to injury we still have one abandoned Brian Thomas sign lying in the front garden where it was dumped a few months ago.  Repeated requests for them to remove it have been ignored.  I think this all relates to the top floor flat, but it seems deeply unfair that it effects the other two flats which are not up for rent.  If I ever did want to sell or rent my flat, it would definitely make me think twice about giving my business to those two firms.  Rant over

That's rather reminiscent of my son's rendition of a Transformer robot he built from bits of old Bionocles!

I e-mailed both companies today.  I've had a very apologetic reply from Anthony Pepe promising to remove it.  Nothing from Brian Thomas - although that's not surprising as I've already e-mailed them a couple of times about the dumped sign and not had a reply.

It's good to hear that AP have responded so positively. They do tend to be very aware of community opinion and keen to maintain a good reputation. Thanks for letting us know. (No wooden igloo for you then!)

Hi Betty,
It's not nice when estate agents don't reply to your requests.
1. As John D pointed out, some might be in breach of regulations
2. They don't help the neighborhood the board was put in, simply causing more rubbish
3. This doesn't help environment
4. They waste their money as well, as boards are up to £25 a pop
5. We donate £25 to a charity each time someone finds our board discarded and/or disturbing, off course subject to nice t&c's

Hopefully your garden will get cleared of the "debris"

You could sneak out in the dead of night and nail the boards up outside the opposing estate agents.

it's always an option! :)

Still no reply from Brian Thomas - I wonder if they are this tardy with their response if you have a house to sell

Well!

When I was house hunting I witnessed a very amusing exchange in Brian Thomas. To be fair, the guy who was in charge of their sales was very nice... but I get the impression that's a tiny part of their business at most of their business is lettings.

A young couple were sitting opposite one of the lettings guys, and chatting amongst themselves in a language I didn't understand (Polish maybe?). They were clearly discussing a flat they had just viewed.

The agent at Brian Thomas interrupted their conversation after about 30 seconds and said "Do you want the property or not?" and the girl replied "we are just discussing it and deciding".

The agent then started shouting "SHOW ME THE MONEY" at them over and over again. It was utterly bizarre. After shouting it for the 10th time or so, the couple eventually look defeated and took out a wad of cash and handed it to the agent and signed the AST in front of them.

Strange way to do business, but evidently effective...
